Conniving CrackHead Thieves make off with copies of valuable retail property....
FuQuay-Varina, NC, USA -- Officials representing independent game publishing label GarageDeveloper International (http://www.garagedeveloperinternational.com/)
spoke of their distress earlier today after valuable property namely several copies of their
popular Indie Game Madness! CDrom series were stolen from their retail store.
The thieves, who call themselves the Conniving CrackHead Thieves successfully made off with copies
from several volume releases in the CDRom series most notably the recently released Volume 7, several
copies from volumes 1-6, copies of VS Poker CDroms, Bikini Karate Babes CDroms, as well as the
side scroller arcade shooter Jet's N Guns GDI officials said.
"I'm sure a lot of people will look at us and say 'Oh my god. They can always produce more
releases, especially with a ton of other things going on in the world. Who really cares?'" a GDI spokesman
told authorities at their retail store, south of downtown FuQuay-Varina. "The funny thing is,
we hold free giveaways every month. In addition to giving away copies with each custom built
computer system that goes out the door.," the spokesman said.
GarageDeveloper International, along with Tricked Out Computer, are offering rewards consisting
of free computer game CDRoms and discounted fees for computer services all valued at $250 for
information leading to the conviction of any Conniving CrackHead Thieves members,
Detective Smuff, a really obesified jelly donut eating member of the city's police force said.
Media reports speculated that the stolen retail items were worth in excess of $5000.00. A spokeswoman for the
Crack Head Underwriting Agents Association couldn't immediately comment on those reports.
The owner of GDI's retail store called police at 10:24 a.m. the other day to report the
theft, Dectective Smuff said, adding that the crack heads apparently used a combination
of tactics to divert the owner's attention away from their main objective of stealing the retail goods.
"We are problably in for a long battle. I just thank God that no one was hurt," the store
owner said, adding that he believes "that the crack heads acted on pure impulse because of the
similar addictive qualities found in IGM games and crack."
Asked if whether or not they would change their normal offerings and day to day operations he replied: "Have you received your
copy of Duke Nukem: Forever yet?"
"The current and previous volume releases of Indie Game Madness! CDRoms are budget priced and are in the $9.95-$23.95 range, which
is significantly cheaper than the cost of crack.", the owner said.
During the initial investigation, police showed photos of the stolen retail items to onlookers while the store owner
explained their overall addictive significance.
The crack heads took copies of Indie Game Madness! CDRoms Volumes 1-7, which showcases many notable independent games
that were not created in office cubicles provided by game developer sweatshops. They included JigJag, Back Alley Brawl,
Alien Shooter, AirStrike 3D, Twilight Mahjongg, MonsterTron 2K3, Little Fighter, AstroSiege, Anime Tennis Babes, VS Poker,
BigJig, Richochet, and others too numerous to name. "The similarities between crack and the computer games featured on
our CDrom series are very striking because both product types are addictive and can have a person foaming at the mouth profusely
if the need is not immediately fulfilled.", the store owner explained. "The main difference between the two product types
lies in the fact that crack is illegal and computer video games are not.", he added.
The band of thieves also stole retail copies of Jet's N Guns, Postal 2, StarScape, Tread Marks, and Bikini Karate Babes.
The most insignificant losses were copies of Magical Blend magazines, Spiderman ISP internet access cdroms, and an IQGolf CDRom,
all of which were enclosed in 98-carat gold plated packaging after having been "warmed up" in a microwave oven for 20 minutes.
